For Foreigners Seeking Jobs

Thank you for visiting this page.
Our advice varies depending on the classification of your residence card.
Please check which one applies to you.

A Designated Activities VISA
(Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services VISA)

Foreign nationals with this type of visa must have been laid off from his or her previous employment due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and were unable to find a new job before their visa expiration date.

The duration of Designated Activities VISA is six months, and it is not known at this time whether it can be renewed.
However, failure to apply for a different visa other than Designated Activities VISA during this six-month period means that you have not been able to find a new job.
Due to this information, there is a higher possibility for the Immigration Office to consider you as a foreign national who does not need to stay in Japan.

For this reason, you should make it possible to change your visa other than the Designated Activities VISA as soon as possible.

More specifically

1. Look for workplaces that will allow you to return to your original Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services Visa.

2. If a white-collar position is difficult to fill, you can take the test for a Specified Skill. You will secure your Residence Status for now while doing field work. From there, look for a white-collar job and work your way back to having a Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services Visa again.

3. If 1 or 2 is difficult to do, you should first enroll in Schools such as Japanese Language School. The goal is to have a Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services Visa again. Therefore, you are trying to buy time studying in school while looking for a white-collar job.

These are some of our advice.

We are currently working on the Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Service job opening list. Please wait for a while.

For example, in the case of Myanmar, there was previously a possibility of applying as a refugee, but currently, unless you are a Rohingya, it is difficult to renew in the future as a refugee.

There are two ways to take the test, one is to come to Japan with a short term visa and the other is to take it locally, but at the moment, due to coronavirus and other circumstances, the test is rarely held locally.

4. Technical Intern Training

Our firm does not provide support for technical intern training. Try to find sending organizations under the technical intern training program locally.
